Australia: Coptercam's UAV searches for missing bushwalker

An UAV has joined the search for bushwalker Prabh Srawn (pictured) almost one month after the Canadian man went missing in Kosciuszko National Park. The UAV, which was donated by Perth company COPTERCAM, undertook aerial searches across the Snowy Mountains on last Sunday 16th and Monday 17th.

Company founder Hai Tran said he felt compelled to join the search as authorities scaled back their efforts. Mr. Tran said that the mapping drone covered a square kilometre at a time, using an on-board camera to take about 200 photos, which would later be examined by volunteers. A fellow West Australian company, Cyber Technology, was aiding the search efforts.

New South Wales police have scaled back the search and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter officially withdrew last week. The family of the Bond University student planned to stay in Jindabyne until searchers found Mr Srawn, who was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. NSW police believe he may be wearing a red and black ski jacket. He was last seen at Charlotte Pass Village on May 13th.
